Kutaisi International Airport (KUT) is the primary arrival point for low-cost European carriers flying into Georgia and, by a considerable margin, the most convenient airport for onward travel to Svaneti, the Black Sea coast, and Imereti. It sits about 22 km west of central Kutaisi in a quiet agricultural valley; the airport itself is single-terminal and moves efficiently — most passengers clear arrivals within 20–30 minutes of landing.

Where travellers arriving at KUT are typically heading

Three routes dominate the departures board from Kutaisi Airport. KUT to Mestia (~4 hours; the standard route into Upper Svaneti, past the Enguri reservoir and into the Svan mountain villages) — this is why many travellers choose Wizz Air or Ryanair into KUT instead of flying into Tbilisi. KUT to Batumi (~2 hours on the expressway; Black Sea hotels and the Adjaran coast) — the second-most-booked route out of KUT in summer. KUT to Tbilisi (~3.5 hours; the direct long-haul route across western Georgia to the capital) — less common but priced competitively against the bus or train.
