Mountain & ski transfers

Gudauri, Bakuriani, Kazbegi — winter-spec vehicles, luggage-first loading, season-tuned pricing.

Overview

What a mountain transfer includes

Mountain transfers run year-round but hit their peak from November through March for the ski seasons at Gudauri, Bakuriani and Goderdzi. In winter we switch to 4WD and all-season-tyre stock: Land Cruisers, Sprinter 4x4s, and a standing rotation of vehicles that have done the Jvari Pass in a blizzard more times than any roster should.

Outside the ski season, the same routes become the Kazbegi day-trip and Stepantsminda loops — early starts to Gergeti Trinity Church, sunset returns via the Ananuri reservoir, long-form itineraries that a taxi meter can’t price.

What is included

Fitted for winter, built for the Caucasus

  • Winter-spec vehicle

4WD Land Cruiser or Sprinter 4x4, all-season tyres, chains on hand when forecasts warrant.

  • Ski-gear loading

Racks or interior loading for skis, boards and boots — coordinated at pickup.

  • Seat warmers + bottled water

Heated cabin, warm drink for the road in peak winter months.

  • Fixed price, quoted upfront

The price you see at booking is the price you pay. No meter, no surge, no per-kilometre surprises.

  • English-speaking driver

Every driver speaks functional English; meeting point and pickup time confirmed in writing.

  • Named driver on your booking

One driver for the whole journey — no agency-style hand-offs mid-trip.

  • 24/7 dispatch on call

A real dispatcher is reachable by phone, WhatsApp or email around the clock.

Winter ski-season rates apply from 15 December through 31 March and include luggage-and-ski-gear loading, seat warmers, and bottled water in the vehicle.

Common questions

Mountain & ski FAQs

What if the road closes?

Dispatch monitors the Jvari Pass in real time. If a closure is announced, we re-book to the next safe window at no fee and refund any unused hours.

Can we stop along the way?

Yes — Ananuri reservoir and the Gudauri scenic viewpoint are standard photo stops. Longer detours (Kazbegi day trips via Pasanauri) are priced at an hourly add-on.

Is the price really fixed?

Yes — every route is priced upfront per vehicle class. Extras (child seats, welcome sign) are optional add-ons listed separately in the booking flow.

What payment methods do you take?

Securely online at booking by card (Visa / Mastercard) in EUR or USD, processed via our secure payment processor with 3-D Secure.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Free up to 24 hours before pickup via the link in your confirmation. Inside 24 hours a 50% charge applies — cancelled flights are exempt.

About this service

How Mountain & ski transfers works in practice

The Georgian Military Highway — the road from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda via Gudauri and the Jvari Pass — is the most photographed and the most consistently misjudged drive in the Caucasus. In winter it goes from clear pavement to packed snow in twenty minutes, and the pass at 2,379 metres can close without warning. A regular taxi is the wrong tool for this trip; a 4WD with a driver who knows the road’s seasonal personalities is the right one.

Gudauri (the country’s flagship ski resort), Bakuriani (the calmer, family-oriented alternative in the Trialeti range), and Goderdzi (the cult favourite in Adjara) each have a different access road, a different seasonal window, and a different vehicle requirement. We match the booking to the route: a Sprinter 4×4 for groups of six heading to Gudauri with skis, a Land Cruiser for a Kazbegi day trip with a stop at Ananuri, a minicoach for a corporate ski-week. Every winter mountain booking includes chains on board, full insurance for the route, and a driver who has done the road that morning.

Outside ski season the same vehicles handle the photographer’s-light Stepantsminda day trips, the multi-stop Kazbegi-Gergeti-Truso valley loops, and the high-summer Tusheti and Khevsureti drives that almost no one else will quote. Pricing is hourly for open-form day trips, flat-rate for known routes — quoted upfront either way.
